I really like these, but am so sensitive to msg and other preservatives, that I rarely buy them if I don't know what's in them. I cook almost everything from scratch but, believe it or not, this is the first time I've considered making them myself. For one, it kills (literally) not being able to figure out how to make it whiter. I know the chinese bakeries added sulfur dioxide to bleach the buns at a point. Doubt they do it anymore. I've tried distilled vinegar in the water before but I didn't care for
