Packing lunches and love

Bentoist

Due to work and study, I am on hiatus until mid-2011. In the meantime, it's mostly take-outs and frozen lunches for me.

I'm a FTWM to a little princess and wife to a wonderful man who absolutely loves my bentos! I bento primarily for him and when my princess eventually starts school, I'll bento for her too. Why do I do it? Just because it says, "I love you."

Cold Spicy Buckwheat Noodles

In between readings, I decided to prepare tomorrow's lunch and made myself a dish I'm not sure what the name really is. I have my suspicions but since I've tossed the wrapper months ago, there is no way of really knowing what I had. What is left now is only that memory of the taste, the texture, the sensation of the cold spicy buckwheat noodle dish I had.

I discovered it at a Korean supermarket, the closest Asian food store to home and hence the place where I get the condiments, the ingredients you don't find anywhere else. From time to time, I get adventurous, and pick up random items with unintelligible labels. I would prepare them from the illustrations on the package. I supposed I like to live dangerously that way.

If I have to hazard a guess, I would say it might be called Bibim Naeng Myun. Three components make this dish-it's cold, it's spicy and it's made of buckwheat. To cooked and chilled soba noodles, I added hot pepper paste similar to what this Blogger has, with julienned cucumbers and shredded chicken breast on top.

Now that lunch's packed, back to the books. Oh, for those who know Korean dishes out there, do put an end to my misery and tell me what the name is, will you?
